SJB will only support all-party national programme

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) said today they are only prepared for an all-party national programme and not for an all-party government.

SJB National Organizer Tissa Attanayake and MP S. M. Marikar told a press conference that their party had informed President Ranil Wickremeisnghe that they are not going to participate in an all-party government but will only support a programme compiled by all political parties.

“We don’t intend to take up ministries but are only prepared to participate in a national programme compiled by all political parties,” Mr. Attanayake said.

“However if the President insists that parties have to accept ministerial portfolios, that could be an attempt to fragment the political parties,” he added.

He said SJB had informed the President that it would participate in an all-party programme only if opposition members are appointed as Heads of Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE), Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) and Public Finance Committee and if emergency laws are repealed. “ We have also informed the President that the clause in the 22nd Amendment to the constitution which says the majority of members in the constitutional council will have to be elected by a majority in Parliament should be abolished,” he added.

“We are not expanding the cabinet by offering ministerial portfolios to all parties,” Mr. Marikar said. (Yohan Perera)

It will be interesting to know how they will support a national national program as opposed to National government for instance what will be the role of Dr. Harsha De Silva will play in such a scenario

Dr..Harsha De Silve can’t perform miracles, it is public support for reforms program make the difference which in and itself a miracle.It is unlikely that Harsha or for that matter anybody with his caliber can get public support as long as they affiliate with this government. All reforms will be killed in the very conception itself or in the due process of implementation of them uncles elections are held at the earliest available date.

Very Good. Don't join them even it Ranil gives you what you demand. When he agrees, put forward some other demand, such Committee should be given extra powers, or anything you fancy. But never agree, until election. Then you can say, you were the best Opposition.

Therefore, please, keep away from the administrative affairs of an efficient government that is run by Ranil Wickremasinghe. Ranil took up the post of Presidency claiming that he can solve the problems facing the country. Additionally, 134 MP's voted for him to solve the problems. He has failed after sitting in the chair of PM/President for over 80 days. He now wants to involve the other parties while holding on to the position of President so if noting works, he can blame everyone else, other than himself. Do not fall for his tricks. Additionally, the multi party will comprise the same 225 who has been in Parliament for close to 3 years. If they could not change the course of the country then, how can the same guys change course now. What is needed is fresh elections immediately.

Sajith is sloppy and cannot be a Leader as he has to learn a lot about politics. Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka is the the ideal person to lead SJB. Make this change, then everything will work well.

If Ranil consider SF (SJB) as the defense secretary, Harsha as Finance Minister, Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle as Minister of Health, Eran Wickramaratne as Foreign Minister and keep the SLPP culprits/robbers in the cabinet who heat up the seats, then our country will prosper.

The present cabinet should be dissolved soon and in the new cabinet all parties experts, professionals, mostly youngsters including Kanchana should be given prominence.
