A pedestrian was killed when a water pipeline burst at Hemmathagama in Mawanella yesterday.
Police said the water pipeline burst when a group of workers from a subsidiary company of the Mawanella Water Supply and Drainage Board were checking the pressure of a pipeline carrying water from Hemmathagama to Wetthewa.
The 68-year old man from Hemmathagama who was passing by the scene at the moment was injured in the blast and died after being admitted to the Mawanella Hospital.
The Mawanella Police are conducting further investigations. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)

These water projects provide many problems to people as the quality and standers are far below. High time to give National Attention on this regard.
