More than 600 employees serving at the Motor Traffic Department (DMT) to receive transfer orders considering the general complaints received about the staff members, DMT Commissioner-General Sumith Alahakoon said.

He said the decision was taken considering the general complaints received about the staff members in connection with various illegal activities, including soliciting bribes.

He said all employees who had reported to work before January 1, 2020, will be transferred to other Government institutions.

The discussion on this took place between President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Transport Minister Gamini Lokuge recently.

So that Gota visit did not change anything. It was just a public stunt. Failed again and failing.

Bribery in the DMT should be dealt with an iron fist. Transferring from dept to dept will not solve the problem.
