A lorry that was carrying 30 tonnes of cement fell on a motor mechanic while he was attending to repairs to the lorry's faulty wheel. He died instantaneously as his skull was jammed to the ground.
The driver of the lorry who was transporting cement from Trincomalee to Polonnaruwa got down the mechanic to the spot to attend to the lorry's faulty wheel.
The tragedy occurred when the 45-year old mechanic began to repair the wheel and the support (floor jack) slipped off and the rear part of the lorry landed on the mechanic's head.
It was reported that the lorry had about 600 bags of cement in it at the time of the accident.
The Minneriya Police are investigating.

What a tragic pity. This is what happens to unqualified, untrained so called mechanics in this country.
