Three Sri Lankans who tried to fly out to Britain using forged visas were arrested by Immigration and Emigration authorities at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).
These three Sri Lankans had come to the immigration counter at the airport to clear their immigration procedures before boarding the London-bound flight.
The Immigration officers on duty while screening through their travel documents, were suspicious about the accuracy of the visas and later found them to have been fake.
The passengers aged between 23 and 31 years old, residents of Jaffna, Mallavi and Chavakachcheri were handed over to the BIA Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.(Indika Sri Aravinda)

The airline should have picked up the forged visas. When the passengers land in the UK the airline will be fined and sent back at the airlines expense.

I was in a Jaffna hotel in 2018 and the guy served me asked where I came from and said, he paid Rs3 Millions to an agency and waiting to go to Europe. I said with that money, can’t you start a business on your own here and establish. He smiled off and said, political risk is high. That’s the problem of this country. Unless this risk is eliminated, no one eats to invest, whether it is North or South. A friend of mine was in Sri Lanka last month. On his way to Jaffna, he stayed in Anuradhapura. The Hotel owner talked to him and pleaded him to buy his hotel and said I will be your manager. Having affected by covid, he is in debts. Even though it is a good investment, he later declined because the area is politically too risky for investment.

Mind you these 3 passed airline counter and got their boarding passes. Airline counter staff are trained to spot fake visas. Those officers at immigration counter scanned their passport to see if any holds etc. Most likely someone must have tipped off. Those officers dont even look at our visas..only scan pp number for holds and warrents.
