The Joint Opposition today urged the government to appoint a special Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) to monitor the progress of the action taken by the Attorney General (AG) into the COPE report on Central Bank (CB) Bond sale issue.
JO stalwart MP Vasudeva Nanayakkara said the AG had proved to be inefficient when it came to certain cases and therefore it was vital to ensure that action was taken against the perpetrators.
“A PSC has the authority to summon the AG or the IGP and inquire into the progress of the investigations of COPE report. Otherwise, there is a risk of the report being put aside,” the MP told a news conference. (Lahiru Pothmulla)

When you have done nothing useful to the people of this country during your time of governance, every single mistake that the present government makes is like a gold mine.

Old Pumpkin, you have no rights to talk about corruption since you kept your mouth shout when the massive corruption took place during previous regime where you were a minister.

JO has no common thinking of what to do. Everyone tries to show each ones colours. They are scared to take Govt. headon. This too is political drama. via DM Android App

This guy does not understand the role of PSCs, they do not have jurisdictional powers nor can they interfere or even advise the AG on what action he or she should take. They can only send their findings to the AG and that is all. AG will then exercise his professional judgement in deciding next course of action.
