Former Chinese President Jiang Zemin dies at age 96

Former Chinese President Jiang Zemin died on Wednesday at the age of 96 of leukaemia and multiple organ failure, Chinese state media reported.

Jiang died at 12:13 p.m. (0413 GMT) in his home city of Shanghai, the official Xinhua news agency said, publishing a letter to the Chinese people by the ruling Communist Party, parliament, Cabinet and the military announcing the death.

“Comrade Jiang Zemin’s death is an incalculable loss to our Party and our military and our people of all ethnic groups,” the letter read, saying the announcement was made with “profound grief”.

It described “our beloved Comrade Jiang Zemin” as an outstanding leader of high prestige, a great Marxist, statesman, military strategist and diplomat and a long-tested communist fighter.

Jiang was plucked from obscurity to head China’s ruling Communist Party after the bloody Tiananmen crackdown on pro-democracy protesters in 1989, but broke the country out of its subsequent diplomatic isolation, mending fences with the United States and overseeing an unprecedented economic boom.

A sad day for the Chinese bloggers in the DM forum who post comments to divide, tear the Sri Lankan cultural fabric, and influence Chinese tinted opinions. They are the ones who post comments, conspiratorial type of disinformation very subtle and insidious, to divide Buddhist/Christians/Muslims/Hindus. Post anti-Indian comments. And in many ways encourage the current corrupt statas-quo. Deepest sympathies that your mentor and paymaster has passed away. Western countries call themselves free democracies but only if you live here in the West specially in Britain you would realise that there are thousands of laws, bylaws and red tapes that makes life so hard for everyone except the royal family. For example if the parents take their son or daughter on a holiday that means missing School for even two days it would be considered a serious breach and a criminal offence. Law is everywhere even in bedroom while you are with your own wife. But in non-white countries the life is so free people in Asia don’t realise this. China is an exception but life in all Asian countries life is much free and happy compared to Britain or rest of Europe. We live in Britain simply because of it’s wealth but Britain actually got the wealth by stealing by force for 200 years.

How about the tennis player that disappeared after accusing a party member of molestation. In Britain member of royal family was stripped of privileges for such acts. Only few months ago there were protests in front of the Whitehouse. So, don't BS.
