China donates USD 6.2Mn worth highly-developed military automobiles to SL Army

The Chinese Ministry of National Defence handed over 11 highly-developed military automobiles, worth 6.2 million US dollars, to Sri Lanka to be deployed for both internal security and special duties by the Sri Lanka Army.

Acting Defence Minister Premitha Bandara Tennakoon officially accepted the fleet of Emergency Command and Communication System Vehicles from the Chinese Ministry of National Defence, during a ceremony at the Army Headquarters.

These vehicles embedded with ultra-modern communication devices have been originally designed for military purposes.

Following the acceptance of military-to-military donation from the Defence Attaché (DA) of the Embassy of China in Sri Lanka, Senior Colonel Zhou Bo, Minister Tennakoon handed over the vehicles to Defence Secretary, General Kamal Gunaratne, who in turn symbolically presented the keys to Army Commander Lt. Gen. Vikum Liyanage.

The Sri Lankan defence top brass along with the Chinese Embassy officials inspected the vehicles at the venue and Chief Signal Officer of the Sri Lanka Army Maj. Gen. Sugath Rathnayake and Chinese DA in Sri Lanka Senior Colonel Zhou Bo placed their signatures on an MoU between the two countries during the session.

Additional Secretaries, Senior Officials of the Sri Lankan Defence Ministry, Senior Army Officers and Assistant Defence Attaché of the Embassy of China in Sri Lanka were also present at the event.

What are special duties ? China interfering in the internal affairs of Sri Lanka. Do we need these highly developed very expensive to maintain military hardwares? Servicing these vehicles, spares, training, for everything we need to pay China. You give with one hand and grab back with the other. We have modayas to accept these sort of vehicles. All we need is standard jeeps, land rovers and trucks for Sri Lanka.

Looks like those responsible need to get their heads examined, but then again our specialists are all leaving or have left for greener pastures. It looks like China is pushing this and many more military aids, so when they establish a BASE in Hambantota, they could put all the military equipment they push on us to good use. i see no threat to Sri Lanka, so why get involved in such purchases and the likes!!.. "Beggars Belief". As usual going around to all under developed and poor countries and interfering with their internal affairs and our idiots cannot think beyond their noses and identify the long term consequences of decisions they make or it the 10% that is clouding their minds and causing their brains to think!!!

China is trying hard to be geopolitical player, raising it's ugly head to enslave the developing countries through these corrupt donations. If only the Chinese people can speak the miserable life, they have under Xi's regime. Donate towards rebuilding a downtrodden village school to the level of Royal College, Colombo? Donate crucial spare parts for Norrocholai Power Station that is always breakdown? No, they will not.
