The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has arrested a 28-year old suspect who allegedly attempted to set fire to the fuel bowser during the protest in Rambukkana on April 19.

Police said a video was being circulated in the media showing that the suspect, wearing a green T-shirt, was seen crossing the railway tracks, throwing away something parked in front of a fuel bowser and leaving the scene during the Rambukkana protest.

The suspect from Pinnawala was arrested in Rambukkana. He will be produced before the Kegalle Magistrate Court today.

A protester was killed when police opened fire on a group of individuals who were protesting due to shortage of fuel and a fuel price hike in Rambukkana.

Meanwhile , the final rites of the victim who died during the shooting will be held today.

So, the police acted promptly but should have used rubber bullets instead of live ammunition. By killing one of the protestors they just helped the 'Aragalaya' . The protestors here were not just protesting. They attacked police violently by injuring 30 of them. So , the human rights commission should also investigate if the protestors had the right to set a bowser on fire, attack police men. In this case , police were not dealing with protestors, they were in fact dealing with a bunch of criminal gangs.

In fact this fellow (if not a set up by Government) should have been arrested and not shooting an innocent protestor. The IGP should be kicked out and the policemen who were involved should be put behind bars for man slaughter

No action against persons who set ablaze the public properties, in Mirihana while the armed forces were looking on, since they are henchmen of Rajapaksas' like in Rambukkana.

According to the pic its one man who goes near the bowser so why didn't the police shoot that man if at all, instead of shooting dozens. Why did they not use rubber bullets? Why did they shoot above the knees? Many more questions...
