The Ceylon Electricity Board has urged Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella to pay up his overdue electricity bill for his residence which is amounting to a massive Rs. 12,056,803.38.
The CEB said this was for power consumed since February 2015 and the Minister had to date failed to settle the payment.
CEB officials had made a field visit to the Minister’s house in December 22, 2021, and had held discussions with his wife. They had also handed over a detailed report to her.
The CEB had then sent a letter to the Minister on January 11, 2022 but the bill was yet to be settled.
Accordingly, the electricity bill was overdue for the power supply taken to his premises located under account no. 0794072623 (Sarana Road, Off Bullers Road)).
"This is an accurate statement of accounts calculated and surcharged based solely on your consumption and related arrears, and I kindly disregard the arrears mentioned in previous articles," the Deputy Manager mentioned in the letter.
The CEB requested the Minister to settle the due payment as soon as possible and requested the Minister to transfer the CEB consumer account under his name. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasiriya)

It is the duty of Chairman/General Manager of the CEB to bring this to the attention of H.E. the President seriously and take suitable action. By voting the President, we expected to have a change in our country by tackling these type of misdeed acts of influential so-called patriots.

Dear Editor I am so fortunate that my electricity bill has to be paid within 30days. If not paid, the CEB will disconnect the power. To re-establish the connection, a surcharge of Rs.1000 taxes has to be paid. So my arrears is always stands for one month only. Isn't it great?

In 1991, because my Land Lord has failed to settle Rs.25/=, but I had paid subsequently, all my monthly bills, LECO disconnected the supply without any prior notice. Spent Rs.100/= to restore power. Nothing has changed in this country of devout religious State. Kauda Kalakanni? Apiddha?
