The postal department is to increase the charges for airmails from August 1, Postmaster General Ranjith Ariyaratne said.
He said the charges would be increased considering the price revision of fuel, airline fares, Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) and train fares and rapid depreciation of the rupee (LKR) against the US Dollar (US$).
Amendments to the fare increase published through an extraordinary gazette notification (2289/08) dated January 1.
The post master general advised the public to log on to their official website www.slpost.gov.lk to get further details on this. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
