Around 75% of the candidates who sat for the 2020 GCE Ordinary Level (O/L) examination are eligible to continue Advanced Level (A/L), the Examination Department Commissioner General Sanath B. Pujitha said.
Addressing a media conference held at the Information Department, he said he was happy with the current results.
Accordingly, 231,458 students are qualified for A/Level.
Meanwhile, addressing the media, Education Ministry Secretary Prof. Kapila Perera said although the O/L results for aesthetic subjects have not been released, it would not be an issue for students to pursue their Advanced Level.
After the reopening of schools, practical examinations in aesthetic subjects will be conducted and the results will be issued only for those who had appeared, Prof. Perera said.
A special circular with the minimum qualifications required to enter A/L for students including those who are unaware of their results for aesthetic practical examinations, will be issued soon by the Ministry. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
