Vass remanded in student assault case

Former DIG Vaas Gunawardena was remanded till October 24 on charges of having abducted and assaulted a student of the SLIIT campus in Malabe.The remand order was given by the Kaduwela Magistrate sequent to the CID informing him that Vaas Gunawardena had been named as the one of the main suspects in the abduction and assault case.
The Magistrate refused bail saying there was the possibility of the suspect intimidating the witnesses.
The suspect is currently in remand in connection with the killing of the Colombo businessman.
