A future United National Party (UNP) government will comply with the new procedures which the World Bank had decided to implement where it had decided to demand the funds it had given to various organisations in the event they are misused.
The UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake told journalists that a future UNP government will comply with this and will probe how the funds submitted by the World Bank had been utilised.
He said the UNP would also take up the challenge thrown by JVP member K. D. Lal Kantha, who recently questioned as to whether the party (UNP) is ready to probe the misuse of all public properties and funds since 1948.
“UNP also supported the Bill to set up the Bribery Commission in 1994 and would not hesitate to any probe on misuse of public properties and funds,” he said. (Yohan Perera and Sanath Desmond)
