Two aircraft from India and Indonesia that were scheduled to land at the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) this evening were diverted to the Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA) because of bad weather, official sources said.

The aircraft will return to BIA as soon as the prevailing weather condition return to normal, the duty officer at the BIA said.

even I thought the same way, but I had a friend who was on board on mihin Lanka flight from Indonesia and he said the weather was so horrible in Colombo and even few of the passengers were been panicked during the moments before flight taken to mattala.. so I'm happy at least we've gotta air port which can rate lives during bad weather! via DM Android App
