Two actresses and one songstress who applied for nominations to contest in the Colombo District from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) under the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) would not be receiving nominations, according to the SLFP Headquarters sources.

The two actresses, Ruwanthi Mangala and Gayesha Perera and songstress Anne White alias Ginger had gone for interviews for nominations that were held at the SLFP Headquarters recently.

Party sources however said that they would not be asked to contest on their behalf. Giving reasons for this they had cited the overwhelming numbers that had sent in their names to be nominated as well as the objections of party seniors to their inclusion as the reasons for their non-inclusion. Additionally it was pointed out that in the electorate that two of them were asking for nominations there were two former Provincial Council Ministers also contesting and as such it would be almost impossible to give them nominations due to logistical considerations, they said.
