The army said today it had received information about some politicians who are attempting to destabilize the country’s intelligence units by divulging information using their parliamentary privileges.

“We have received credible information that some politicians using their parliamentary privileges are attempting to expose secret details about the country’s intelligence units. This may eventually lead to an unstable situation in the country,” Military Spokesman Ruwan Wanigasooriya told a media conference today.

“If this happen it would be the second incident after the Millennium City safe house exposure, where at least 21 intelligence officers had to sacrifice their lives in 2002 because of that betrayal,” he said.

Intelligence agencies must work in secret.If public come across any information regarding them then it is due to that intelligence agency's shortcomings. So the blame should lie with that intelligence agency.

It is the government that must protect our intelligence sources . Why must the Army seek to do this? Questions can be asked by MP in parliament , the government has the right not to answer them if it considers it inimical to the security of this country and surely it does that

It happened earlier when politicians were involved with intelligence units. Army spokesman should not talk to the media what politicians wants, they have to do their duty. then intelligence units would be safe.
