Tax concession for bank employees

President Mahinda Rajapaksa today decided to remove the taxes imposed on employees in the state and private sector financial institutions imposed under the 1857/8 special gazette notification.

Accordingly, the taxes on housing loan interest, disaster loan interest, vehicle loan interest, medical expenses reimbursement, overtime allowance and other allowances of employees at institutions imposed will be removed.

The President’s Office said the decision was taken following a meeting between the President and the Bank Employees’ Union at Temple Trees last evening.

No one in the private sector mafia to talk on behalf of other private sector employees this is a violation of their rights by giving special concessions only to bank employees who are paid more than handsomely with all the monies they fleece from innocent helpless clients
