Strong winds hit several areas

Strong winds swept across early morning today in Mirigama, Ambalantota, Yatiyana and Matara areas in the early hours today damaging more than 50 houses. No injuries were reported, District Disaster Management Centre Assistant Director Pradeep Kodippili said.

Meanwhile, the Duty forecaster of the Metrological Department D.A. Jayasingharchchi said that the high wind situation experienced in these areas with heavy rains. (Sanath Desmond)
