Strong winds expected this week

Strong winds and showers are expected in the coming days as the Southwest monsoon intensifies, the Met Department said yesterday. It said strong winds exceeding 50 kmph might develop in the central hills and sea areas off the west coast.

Several spells of showers are expected in the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Western provinces especially in the mornings.

Showers or thundershowers will develop in a few places in the Uva and Eastern provinces during the afternoons or nights. Therefore the public are advised to be vigilant and take adequate measures to minimise damages caused by lightning. (Yohan Perera)
