Ravi Wettasinghe out on bail

Businessman Ravi Wettasinghe has been released on a surety of Rs. 100,000 and another two sureties of Rs.1 million each by the Colombo High Court today.

Mr. Wettasinghe, who was in remand, was produced in court on charges of misappropriating Rs. 75 million when purchasing 143 buses for the SLTB.

Wettasinghe became the Chairman of Wesco, after he bought over the SLTB’s Werahera Central Workshop for Rs. 25 million in 1993.

High Court Judge Devika de Livera Tennakoon ordered him to report to the CID once a month and impounded his passport. Manopriya Gunasekara
