Showers expected in next 24 hours
Showers will be expected during the next 24 hours in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern and Uva provinces and in the Hambantota district, the Meteorology Department said.The Department further said showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere during the afternoon or evening.
There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. And the general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize the damages caused by lightning activities.
There will be showers or thundershowers at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Trincomalee to Galle via Pottuvil and Hambantota.
Winds will be North-Easterly and will be at speeds of 30-40 Kmph.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Mannar via Puttalam may be fairly rough at times as the wind can be strengthening up to 50kmph at times. (Chaturanga Pradeep)
