Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa Monday said steps would be taken to bring a resolution against Sri Lanka in the United Nations for human rights violation once the general elections get over in India.

Replying on the motion of thanks to Governor K. Rosaiah for his address in the assembly, Jayalalithaa said: "Parliament elections are slated soon. Then the government will change and the scene will also change. The AIADMK will be in a position to determine the policies of the central government."

"At that time, a resolution against Sri Lanka would be brought in the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and steps would be taken for its success," she said.

Referring to a resolution to be brought by four nations against Sri Lanka for violation of human rights next month in the UNHRC, Jayalalithaa said India should bring such a resolution but the current Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government at the Centre would not do that.

She said the state government is firm on the issue of declaring those who committed war crimes in Sri Lanka during the internal strife there as war criminals and getting them punished.

Jayalalithaa said till that happened, there should be economic sanctions against Sri Lanka.

She added that there should not be any sporting events between the two nations (India and Sri Lanka) and soldiers from the island country should not be trained in India. (IANS)

First we must ask all indians making money in sri lanka to leave & abolish free trade agreement & indo lanka accord, then we must appoint an international investigation to determine the origin of LTTE & separatism war against sri lanka commenced in '83 - who trained them ? who funded them ? who gave shelter ? who promoted separatism internationally ? all will be punished including any war crimes after that.
