Remains of Mahanayake thera brought to Sri Lanka

The remains of the Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter Most Venerable Udugama Sri Buddharakkitha Thera was brought to Sri Lanka from Singapore a short while ago.The Buddhist Affairs Commissioner requested the public to raise yellow flags and have national flags at government institutions at half-mast on April 12.
Meanwhile the government has declared April 12 as a day of mourning for the late Mahanayake Thera.
The Mahanayake Thera had passed away at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore this morning while receiving treatments at the age of 85.
The funeral will be held at the Kandy Police Park on Sunday (12).
