Members of the Ravana Balaya had launched protest inside the Ministry of Religious Affairs demanding the government to disband the newly started Special Police Unit to look into religious and related matters.

The protestors, including Buddhist monks launched the protest inside the ministry building sitting on mats and demanded that the unit be banned as soon as possible.

Officials at the Ministry told the protesters that they would pass their demands to relevant authorities.

The special Police unit was set up at the Ministry to deal with any religious related complaints on a Presidential directive the instruction of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.(ISA)

Why do they want the special unit to be disbanded? If they stay within the limits of law they have nothing to fear. Or, are they above the law?
