A special traffic plan will be in force from today at Pittala Junction to ease the traffic in the area, police said.

Accordingly Pittala Junction could be again crossed by vehicles coming from Flower road side to go to Slave Island and Fort Between 7a.m to 9a.m in the morning and 12p.m to 2p.m in the afternoon, police said.

Therefore vehicles coming from public library roundabout side on the Green Path and turning right at the Flower road junction could directly proceed towards Slave Island or Fort by crossing the Pittala Junction.

Earlier vehicles coming from Flower road side could not cross the Pittala junction and such vehicles proceeding towards Slave Island or Fort area had to go towards Liberty roundabout and come down again to go towards Slave Island or Fort area. (Chaturanga Pradeep)

Sri Lanka is gone crazy with one way traffic. One way traffic is not the answer for traffic jams in Colombo. Time is right to introduce
efficient and clean public transport system within the City of Colombo. That will reduce the number of vehicles entering the City and ease the traffic.

this is just crazy.. with this system, the next time you get on the road, you need to know the time to know the route.. mapping services, gps devices, driving applications are going to be useless now!!!

Impose a charge for vehicles entering colombo (excluding public/ shared transport) whatever other changes made will not solve traffic issue. keep trying nevertheless.

This is one good solution to be made permanent and not just for a couple of hours. Think about the vehicles coming from FLOWER ROAD to GREEN PATH JUNCTION, to cross a 50 metre stretch of road they have to go 2 kms along GREEN PATH and COME along DHARMAPALA Mw to reach PITHALA junction. What a waste of energy, money and time????.
