No flashing coloured lights on windscreens: Police
The Police Department has advised motorist to desist from fixing any other lights above the headlights of vehicles and warned that legal action would be taken against those who violated the law.“We will remove such lights and in case we find it difficult to do so, the motorists will be given a day’s time to do so and to show us that it has been. Defaulter will be taken to Courts,” Traffic DIG Amarasiri Senaratne said.
He said only ambulances and police vehicles would be allowed to use such lights and those who wished to have such lights on their vehicles would need prior approval from the Defence Ministry.
The DIG said motorists should not to cover windscreens of vehicles.
The decision was taken after receiving several reports that many vehicles were using flashing coloured lights on the windscreens. (Darshana Sanjeewa)
