Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Sri Lanka from March 13 to 15, Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Rajitha Senaratne said.

President Maithripala Sirisena visited India on February 16, his first State visit abroad since assuming office. The visit was part of efforts to repair relations with New Delhi, which had strained under the previous Government.

President Sirisena had earlier pledged to pursue a more global foreign policy in a break with his predecessor Mahinda Rajapaksa’s pursuit of close ties with China, a key supporter of Sri Lanka’s economy since its 26-year civil war ended in 2009.

Mr Modi, Why you wasting public money for travelling, almost half of your population living without proper sanitation. There is nothing you gain from srilanka, we know very well about Indians who made big mess here by supporting terrorists and voting against SL in international arena. A coward like u did not have balls to say this to MR, when he took 160 to China. True India once harbored the LTTE, which they reversed later and paid a serious price (Rajiv Ghandhi) and learnt a lesson, but did you ever want to find the cause that created an LTTE? Broken political promises / disrespect towards minorities / riots 1905 until beruwela 2015 / arrogance / impunity / religious extremism.
