A procession from Peradeniya to the University Grants Commission organised by the students of the Peradeniya University has been stopped following an order by the Kandy Magistrates Court. The procession was scheduled to take place today against the establishing of private universities within the country. Minister of Higher Education S.B. Dissanayake previously reiterated the government's commitment to establish private universities within the country and had already concluded negotiations with a few foreign universities for the setting up of campuses in the country.
The procession was stopped following requests made by the police citing the march would cause severe traffic and impede the day to day workings of citizens.According to a student at the university there is heavy army and police presence around the university. (H.F)

why our young gen is behaving like animals? what is the issue they have in private universities ? Others shouldn’t study o what..idiots? who gave them the entry to public universities to study freely ? if you give for free they don’t value it .so make all public universities private and let these animals pay and study .then they will stop all these nonsense and concentrate on studies
