A 42-year-old man shot dead by two unidentified men at Mandur in Vellaweli, Batticaloa this evening, the Police said.

Police Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said two men arrived in motorbike had fired shot at the man who was in his home at the time.

The victim was identified as an employee at Navithanveli Pradeshiya Sabha in Ampara. Police had launched an operation to arrest the suspects.
