Lankan woman with gold arrested in India

The Air Intelligence Unit of the Customs Department on Monday arrested a woman of Sri Lankan origin with around 1.5 kg of gold at the Nedumbassery airport.  Shiva Yoga Nayaki Amma, 78, who arrived on a Sri Lankan Airlines flight, had concealed the gold inside her saree. The gold was in the form of chains, rings and disks.

Customs officials said that the gold was, in all probability, being smuggled to Sri Lanka from the Gulf. (newindianexpress)
