Chief Opposition Whip and UNP District Leader John Amaratunga who was the only UNP MP to attend the opening ceremony of the Colombo-Katunayaka Experssway (E03) today, said he participated in the event because it was something which was started by the UNP.

“It was the UNP who initiated this project and I decided to participate as we did not want to give the full credit to the government,” he told Daily Mirror.

Mr. Amratunga said one should accept the fact that a good share of the credit should be given to the present regime for implementing it.

This project, he said, was something that was essential for the entire nation.(Yohan Perera)
