I accept the mistakes made by the government when it comes to National unity, National Languages and Social Integration Minister Vasudeva Nanyakara said while declaring open the Ministry’s Kilinochchi office yesterday.“Social integration should be undertaken between the Sinhala people and the Tamil people. For that, both sides should offer their cooperation. I admit the government sometimes errs when it came to National integration,” he said.
“Through this centre, National Unity programmes and people’s resurgence programmes would be conducted. The needs of the war-affected people are very great. To identify and cater to their needs, I frequently visit the North,” he said.
“The foremost Central office is the Kilinochchi Office, out of all the National Languages and Social Integration centres established in every province. Through this centre, reconciliation projects, welfare projects, differently –abled and women heads of households welfare projects will be undertaken,” he said.
Kilinochchi District Secretary Roopavathy Ketheeswaran, EPDP Parliamentarian Murugesu Chandrakumar, Divisional Secretaries, government officials were present.(Subramaniam Baskaran)
