This is an every day occurrence and nothing is being done about it at the grassroots level. Why is it so difficult to end the corruption that is plaguing the Department of motor traffic and make it a extremely hard to get a heavy vehicle license. Why do they put the life of 20 - 40 innocent people (women & children) in the hands of an inexperienced, uneducated, ill mannered bus driver. 3 wheeler are no better. Police need to hound the bus drivers and 3 wheel drivers instead of giving them the upper hand just to get a ride for free. Shame on all of them. How many more of these accidents do we have to see before something is done.

Old vehicles with no traction and stability control features, wet weather and ill disciplined drivers are a great recipe for disasters as such. Driver licencing is an absolute joke in SL. To top it all off, most do not even bother wearing seat belts. 1000s of men women and children die on road because our lazy politicians have failed to act. Cheap Indian vehicles and reconditioned Japanese crap are everywhere on Sri Lankan road killing people. How sad?

They copped me, without any warning for having about 1 inch of the back bumper sticking out on to the pavement where there is no room for me to move any further in the small car I was driving. This was at a private parking spot marked with lines guided by a security guy. The small car just would not fit any further. This is the kind of illogical thinking process that plagues law enforcement. First the enforcers need to have some grey matter. But then again. The law makers are not tested for any grey matter so how can we expect the heavy vehicle, bus or 3 wheel driver to be tested?

majority of drivers now drive like the political convoys..... drive with their head lights on and push ppl off the roads.. private drivers do the same when the owners of the vehicle are not there

driving a vehicle is much more than turning the key, putting it into gear , looking at the rear view and hitting the road. morever it is much different to riding a bullock cart, push cycle or mobike!

As you see most of these happenned during rain ( wet Roads) which the drivers should expect the slipperry conditions (skidding). They were not taught this during their training or no brains? K'gala To Habarana is is very famous for slippery after a rain. All licences should be banned for these drivers. Police dury on bus drivers .....! Huhhhh they are belongs to top shots.Dont worry same drive will drive another bus from teh same owner tomorrow, same route.

The very high incidence of accidents on Sri Lankan roads is caused by a combination of factors all of which are well known. Most probably, the foremost among them is the irresponsible behavior of drivers devoid of good road sense and right attitudes and discipline.
