Fort Police MO branch IP arrested for alleged bribery

The Bribery Commission today arrested an Inspector of Police (IP) who is attached to the Colombo Fort police minor offences branch while allegedly accepting a bribe.

The commission said, the IP had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs.75,000 from a person to release him from a complaint implicating him with alleged sexual misconduct at the Fort railway station.

The IP had initially taken Rs. 12,000 from the person. After the complaint to the Bribery commission, the officers managed to arrest the IP while accepting the balance Rs.63,000.(Chaturanga Pradeep)
