FCID files case against Prasanna Ranatunga
The Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID) today filed a case against Western Provincial Council Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga in the at Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court, alleging that he had accepted a sum of Rs.15 million from a businessman to perform an official duty.
The businessman had complained that Chef Minister Ranatunga had solicited a bribe of Rs. 64 million to issue a certificate on reclamation and development of a land belonging to the businessman, who hails from Moratuwa and accepted Rs. 15 million of the sum as an advance.
The FCID stated that Chief Minister Ranatunga had committed an offence under the money laundering act.
The case had been registered under the B number B/1713/15.
