The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) today charged that there were moves to arrest those who reacted angrily to the presence of Defence Ministry Monitoring MP Duminda Silva at a protest by Wanathamulla residents.
JVP candidate Sunil Watagala, who is contesting the elections to the Western Provincial Council, told a news conference that government politicians should think twice before getting involved with an angry crowd carrying out a justifiable protest over the abduction of one of the residents.
Duminda Silva was chased out from the area when he turned up to speak to the protestors on Saturday. The angry protestors hurled plastic bottles at Mr. Silva.
Mr. Watagala, who chaired the news conference held by the ‘Wanathamulla Nivasa Himikam Surekeme Sanvidanaya’, said the Defence Ministry’s Monitoring MP should not have come during the protest launched by the Wanathamulla residents as they were angry over what had taken place.
“The Wanthamulla residents were angry because one of their residents who protested the acquisition of the houses had been abducted that morning,” Mr. Watagala said.
He said Mr. Silva should consider himself lucky for having escaped without much harm because the residents could have reacted even more strongly. (Yohan Perera) - (Pix by nisal Baduge)

The reaction of the Wanathamulla residents clearly shows the respect and regard Duminda has in the area. Wonder how such a personality can function as a supervising MP for the Ministry of Defence. Such jokes can only exist in this country.

We saw how Duminda was chased out. If the Govt is now giving the credit to the opposition, they should haply except it.
