Depression moving away from the island

The depression over Northern Sri Lanka has weakened into an atmospheric disturbance and is moving away from the island and windy conditions over the island will reduce, Department of Meteorology said.

Due to the Northeast monsoonal conditions, there will be showers at times in the Northern, North-central, Eastern and Uva provinces.

The department said, thundershowers will develop at several places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern provinces during the afternoon and night.

There will be showers at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Kankasanturai (KKS) and Trincomalee.

Winds will be North-Easterly and speed will be 30-40 Kmph.

The seas off the coast extending from Puttalam to KKS via Mannar will be fairly rough at times as the wind can be strengthening up to 50kmph at times, the department said. (Chaturanga Pradeep)
