Customs Investigation Division arrested a suspect who was attempting to remove a container loaded with vehicle parts from the Grandpass container yard, Customs spokesman Leslie Gamini said The goods were reportedly imported from Yokohama in Japan.
Mr. Gamini said the declaration forms had described the contents as embroidery machines but when the container was opened it was found to contain parts of nine different motor vehicles such as of Mini Coopers, Honda, Toyotas, Lancers, etc.
He said the customs duty had not been paid and name of the company which was said to have imported the goods was also found to be non-existent.
