A tense situation has arisen at the Colombo Municipal Council with opposition members taking hold of the mace of the council, compelling the suspension of todays sittings

CMC UPFA member Riza Zarook told the Daily Mirror that the members of the opposition would not let go of possession of the maze until the Mayor comes to an equitable agreement, forthwith.

“The Mayor refused to place a proposal made by us thanking the secretary of defence for providing the council 160 million worth of bowsers. When we brought this up during the sitting the Mayor acted in a dictatorial manner refusing to adhere to our requests. Therefore we had no option and council member Anura Sujeewa took the mace out of the council” he said. (Hafeel Farisz)

You can take a person out of the gutter. But you can never take the GUTTER out of the person. I suppose the Secreatry of Defense got the Bowsers out of his personal wealth, therefore they thought it is fit to remove the Mace out of chamber.

Yes Mayor if anyone do good to CMC please appreciate.Unlike the other regimes this govt. evolving equal progrmmes to everywhere irrespective of that area is a stronghold of any political parties

Typical behaviour of uneducated UPFA opposition members. It is obvious the opposition members were looking for some trouble and commotion to bring the proceedings to a halt. The country is definitely going to the mad.

This is a not a personal contribution by somebody to the municipality. It as what is due to Municipality under some aid program politicians trying to project as if they are from their private funds.
