Reading some of the comments makes me wonder whether the majority of our citizens have any sense. Even when something good is done a whole lot of undue criticism.

Ltd. since January 1, 2012 until May 22, 2012. He founded Hydromet Corp. Ltd. and served as its Head of Technical Team until May 22, 2012. Dr. Jayaweera has considerable experience in mineral processing and hazardous waste recycling. He served as the Chairman of Hydromet Corp. Ltd. Since January 2001 until May 22, 2012, and served as its Deputy Chairman from September 2000 to January 2001. He serves as a Director at ChemMet Pty Limited. He has been a Director of Queensland Mining Corporation Limited since January 2013. He served as an Executive Director of Hydromet Corp. Ltd. since 1991 until May 22, 2012. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering.

Some of the comments made here are out of malice or sheer ignorance. Lkashman J is an extraordinarily successful businessman in Sydney and happens to be a chemical engineer. His expertise is in entrepreneurship and is eminently suited for the job.I wish there were no ignorant carping criticisms such as we have seen in some of the comments.

I am very dissapointed to read some of these stupid negative comments about Lakshman. I have known Lakshman for a long time in Sydney and closely associated him and his family. Lakshman is a great gentleman, and well respected by the Sri Lankan community in Australia. Please dear editor stop publishing these idiotic negative comments from some of our stupid Sri Lankans. I am very happy that Lakshman has now got the opportunity to help Sri Lanka. I wish him and the BOI all the best for the future.

It's great that this forum reflects freedom of speech and expression which is very rare these days. People should be free to voice their opinion ( whether its malicious or derogatory is another matter). A person's suitability should not be judged merely by one's academic credentials. Lakshman's contribution to this role will show if if he is capable or not in due course. Attraction of foreign investment to a country is influenced mainly by government policies and the political environment itself. This establishment (BOI) is a gatekeeper.
Wishing him success in his appointment .
