Alleged rape of Australian girl: suspect yet to be arrested



Police are yet to arrest the suspect who involved in alleged rape of an Australian University student during an excursion to the Gendawana Rock in the seas near Ambalangoda on Thursday.

According to the police, the 22-year-old suspect, a residence of Ambalangoda had fled the area soon after the alleged incident was taken place.

The victim had been identified as a 20-year-old woman and allegedly raped by a youth when she had been isolated from the group that had gone on the excursion with her. The group had consisted of eight persons including a foreign man and a woman apart from the victim.

Police said that the victim was lodged the complaint with the police two days after the incident.
