SJB MP Mayantha Dissanayake said today he would resign from the chair of the Committee on Public Finance.
He told a news conference that he would submit the letter of resignation to the Speaker shortly.
"I decided to submit my resignation as there is no unity among the members of the Public Finance committee and also it is my duty to obey the party leader no matter whether he is right or wrong" Dissanayake said.
Dissanayake was appointed Chairman of the Committee on Public Finance by the Committee of Selections last week despite the nomination of SJB MP Harsha De Silva for the post by the opposition. (Yohan Perera)

Please right wrong is not the point please follow the standard order instead of going through the back door as done by Ranil and teach the young the correct thing and the right direction The nomination of SJB MP Harsha De Silva for the post by the opposition is the standard now there will be unity in finance committee if you resign

Mayantha you have decided to resign like a gentleman for the sake of unity. Anyway, please do so right away instead of dilly dallying.

The reasons who give for resigning are interesting. So it is not because you think it is the correct thing to do so ?
