Wife of Kalutara hotel owner arrested

The hotel owner’s wife who is alleged to have provided accommodation to the underage schoolgirl who reportedly fell from an upper story of the hotel in Kalutara on May 06, was arrested today afternoon by Kalutara South Police during the ongoing investigations into the incident.

She is the fifth suspect to be taken into custody in connection with the incident.

Earlier, police had arrested four suspects and the main suspect, a 29-year-old man, is being further questioned under a detention order.

Police said the hotel owner’s wife would be charged for providing accommodation to the schoolgirl regardless of the need to identify her. A senior police official said steps have been taken to examine the telephone calls taken by the victim.
