WhatsApp support introduced for National Fuel Pass registration

Colombo, March 18 (Daily Mirror) - The Government Information Centre (GIC) has introduced a dedicated WhatsApp service to assist vehicle owners facing difficulties in registering for the National Fuel Pass.

Under this initiative, individuals experiencing issues during the registration process can now obtain support by messaging their vehicle number via WhatsApp to 076 000 1919. The Ministry of Digital Economy said that the vehicle number must be sent as text and not as an image.

Applicants are also required to submit clear photographs of essential documents, including a valid National Identity Card (NIC), driving license or passport, a valid vehicle license, and the Vehicle Registration Certificate (CR).

The Ministry said that only the registered owner of the vehicle is eligible to apply for assistance. Additionally, the identification number provided must match the details listed in the Vehicle Registration Certificate.

The Ministry assured that all personal information will be handled in compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act No. 9 of 2022. Data collected will be used solely for verification purposes, and all personal details—except the vehicle number—will be securely deleted once the process is completed.
