Water distributed among 181,676 people in 15 districts

As a solution to the prevailing drought situation the Disaster Management Center (DMC) and the Disaster Relief Center distributed the required amounts of water among 52 Divisional Secretariats covering 15 districts, DMC Director General Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Sudantha Ranasinghe said.

During the past one and a half months, drinking water was distributed among 181,676 people belonging to 52,435 families, he said.

"People in Ampara, Batticaloa, Jaffna and Ratnapura districts have been heavily affected by the drought situation, said the Director General.

He said the government had approved Rs. 4.5 million for the distribution of water. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)

How are the responsibilities of the Disaster Management Centre and Disaster Relief Centre demarcated ? Don't they overlap and isn't this another area of Waste ?
