PARLIAMENT (Daily Mirror)- Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana announced that video recording of sessions and going live on social media will be prohibited.
“MPs who video record sessions and go live on social media will be severely dealt with,” he said after the chaos in Parliament this morning.
The Speaker announced his decisions when the sessions resumed. Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella said action should be taken against ruling party members immediately.
Premadasa was seen challenging the ruling party MPs for a physical confrontation.
However, Premadasa was allowed to raise his question when sessions resumed.
SJB MPs continuously wanted the Speaker to take action against MP Sanath Nishsantha while ruling party MPs wanted immidate action against MP Nalin Banadara for video recording.
State Minister Shehan Semasinghe requested the Speaker to convert Premadasa into a responsible leader of Opposition.

Why is that? Is it because you fellows behavior inside the chamber is exemplary to everyone? That too on public money?

Looks like we citizens will have to get on the streets for another genuine Aragalaya to remind these clowns whom sadly we ourselves voted and put into parliament that we expect them to be statesman and not sad entertainers.

Parliament is a tool of the people and the people have a right to see whats happening in the Parliament. This Speaker is a biased speaker.

Isn't our country a democracy where legislators are voted by the public and aren't they entitled to know what their legislators are doing for the progress of this country ? By blocking information to the public Mr. Speaker you are only endorsing actions of these hooligans who should be nipped at the bud otherwise this disease will spread like a CANCER which cannot be curbed. Very poor show Mr. Speaker which will reflect your partiality towards the ruling party.
