Veteran singer Victor Rathnayake had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private hospital, his son said in a video.

Posting a video on social media, Lelum Rathnayake, the younger son of Victor Rathnayake said a tumor had been found on his father’s kidney.

“My father is also having breathing difficulties and is currently receiving treatments at the ICU,” he added.

In my teen years going to Ananda college I would have watched his “SA” musical more than ten times. He was the “Star” in Sinhala musical scene from mid seventies onwards. Can still vividly remember how passionately people rushed to see “SA” at “Navarangagala” at Royal college in the late seventies. Wish maestro the speediest recovery.
