Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations of the Holy See, will undertake an official visit to Sri Lanka from November 3 to 8, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The visit is being made at the invitation of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and the Holy See.
During his stay, Archbishop Gallagher is scheduled to call on President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, and hold official discussions with Minister Herath.
A special commemorative event to mark the golden jubilee of diplomatic relations will take place at the Galle Face Hotel in Colombo, where Archbishop Gallagher will deliver an address.
The Archbishop’s itinerary also includes visits to several sites of cultural and religious importance across the country, including churches affected by the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.
