Yes he did what others didn't want to do after aragalya and he deserve the credit. However, he should have held the elections within 3 months and let the people decide their leadership.

For stabilising the Ugandan economy? Ugandan president should lay flowers at the feet of the rajapaksas.

Another example of double standards of ploiticians in SL. Wear the white national dress in SL and wear the tie and the suite oversease. Who is fooling whom, we all know the answer. This happens from the Green, Blue and Maroon camps.

It was no magic by RW. With no Forex all imports came to a halt, with Covid incoming Forex came to a halt and many overseas workers returned. Covid improving workers returned to work many more left for overseas work, Forex started to come but imports were halted except for needy items. This saved the Forex. Additional taxes imposed made the Rupee balance bigger resulting in some sections of the people starving

Sam Silva Saturday, 06 January 2024 07:28 PM

Point taken and agree. But the fact remains even the magic to perform as you have mentioned, no other leaders wanted to take the role. Only thing he didn't do is he did not keep his part of the bargain by not holding the elections within three months.

Stabilising of the economy at what costs.? The outside world sees this celluloid movie taking place but not knowing how a majority of the people are going through untold suffering in their livelihoods. The present trend is tax every segment of society whilst politicians who have robbed the purse go scot free. Also politicians are parasites living a luxurious life whilst our professionals and others are leaving the shores of the country. Big question is " is this what you call stabilising the Economy ? Very Good Reality y show of the masses of the century.

Yes, after a lot of dollars were deposited in Ugandan banks by the Red Towel family, this president managed to somewhat stabilize the economy by scavenging all the hard-earned money of the people via excessive taxes and VATs.

The only leaders who visited or recognized Sri Lanka during the regime of the Rajapakse's were the rulers of the African jungle. This country was one such.

Economy stabilized? just balanced a little by squeezing the poor and by geo-political benifits!!. This is like "operation successful, patient dead". Is the economy growing? has the government expose the economy growth plan and post evaluation?
